Hey, me again.
Last weekend I actually did something interesting, totally messing up the humdrum of which my life consists at the moment. The Pacific Northwest Juggling Festival was put on in Corvallis, and I decided to use it as an excuse to drive up and see my family. Probably every one of you already knew that, but I'll pretend you didn't.
One nice thing about driving is that you have a feeling of control over your circumstances. In an airplane, when the pilot says, "Buckle your seat belts, slight turbulence coming up," you get the idea that they're sugar-coating it. ("OK, Mac, I think I've calmed them down. Now, where are those parachutes?") Frequently I've found myself reflecting on the possibility of crashing when the plane is going jiggly-jiggly. At least when I'm driving and the car goes jiggly-jiggly I can pull over and change the tire. (Woot! See previous post.)
One bad thing about driving is that there isn't a whole lot you can do while you're driving. Especially in this state, where they arrest you for resting your head on your hand. ("I brought him in on suspicion of talking on a cell-phone, Sergeant. I'd like a warrant to search his vehicle. That phone could go off any minute!!") Fortunately, the scenery was nice.
The festival was fun. I pretty much owned in unicycle hockey, except when I didn't. Had a good time catching up with my family. You wouldn't believe how fast they are.
Driving back was an adventure. Ended up leaving a little later than planned in the morning, and by the time I was done with all my stops seeing friends on the way, it was 10:00 at night and I still had three hours to go. Decided to spend the night with a classmate, and do the drive in the morning. Got home in time for work, but wow, that was a long drive. Here's a piece of advice: Don't do long drives whe
Sorry, only a piece.

We sure enjoyed seeing you, Landon. I don't know how into fiction you are, but I love books on CD for long drives. Libraries are usually a good source for a variety of materials and it seems to entertain. Usually I drive with Merlin and then there's no entertainment required, but when I'm alone books are my friend :)
"Don't do long drives whe"
I wonder what the rest of that piece of advice would have been.
